THE ROLE
Ensure smooth and efficient operations oftheshipping and loading departments. Responsible for coordinating the activities of employees engaged inproducthandling, shipping, storage and transportation.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities- Oversee shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness and condition of products.
- Monitor, direct and evaluate performance of Loading and Delivery personnel.
- Determine work procedures and prepare work schedules to expedite workflow.
- Determine shipping priority, work assignments and the appropriate shipping method to meet delivery commitments.
- Negotiate freight rates and arrange transportation that optimizes service and cost.
- Inspect loading operations to ensure compliance with all packaging and safety specifications.
- Investigate and solve customer problems and issues.
- Monitor and maintain all CDL or Intra State driver logs to ensure compliance.
- Remain current on all CDL Driver qualification requirements, regulations and rules.
- Oversee all delivery vehicle maintenance schedules.
- Proven Customer Service Skills
- Ability towork under limited supervision
- Strong verbal and written communications skills
- Proven problem solving skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Officeand data entry
- Works well in a team environment, with a diverse workforce
- Ability to perform several tasks concurrently with ease and professionalism
- Ability to use and operate general office equipment
Strong math skills
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 2years of job related experience and/or training required.
