Overview

We are hiring a Youth Treatment Specialist – Youth Development Specialist – Youth Care Worker for our Bureau of Prisons program at Abraxas Academy. In this direct care role you will join a team helping at‑risk adolescents build better futures and serve as a role model and champion for youth while giving back to your community.

Wage: $23.00 per hour
Health & Welfare (H&W): $4.93 for each hour of work on BOP unit (based on a 40‑hour workweek, $197.20 per week, or $854.53 per month).
Job Type: full‑time

Shift Availability

Sunday - Thursday: 3 pm – 11 pm
Tuesday - Saturday: 3 pm – 11 pm
Saturday - Sunday: 7 am – 11 pm
Must be able to work every other weekend!

Requirements

Must pass a drug test and both federal and state background checks.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Follow standard operating procedures, program policies and client intervention processes.
  • Interact with and supervise clients during daily activities to ensure their safety and security.
  • Provide effective facility security, including conducting headcounts, room checks and observing client movement.
  • Observe client behavior and intervene appropriately.
  • Demonstrate appropriate use of client intervention skills and Safe Crisis Management (SCM) techniques; monitor interventions and provide guidance to other employees as necessary.
  • Facilitate and document various groups or meetings; monitor documentation to ensure all services are recorded as required each shift.
  • Support and promote the Sanctuary Model and its Commitments.
Hiring Requirements
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Must pass a background check
  • Non‑communicable diseases physical exam
  • At least 21 years of age
  • Ability to work overtime as required
  • Must pass both federal and state background checks screening for drug‑related crimes, violent crimes, sexual abuse, domestic violence, child abuse, and repeated misdemeanors
  • Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department
