Electrical Maintenance Specialist

Summary / Objective

The Electrical Maintenance Specialist is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and optimizing electrical components of production equipment and facility systems. This position focuses on troubleshooting electrical issues, supporting preventive maintenance programs, and responding to urgent electrical failures to minimize downtime and maintain operational efficiency.

• Performs routine inspections, testing, and maintenance of electrical systems and industrial machinery.
• Executes preventive maintenance activities to minimize electrical failures, reduce downtime, and ensure safe, reliable equipment performance.
• Maintains and completes monthly and quarterly preventive maintenance schedules on plant electrical systems and equipment, including compressors, boilers, and heating systems.

• Performs electrical modifications, diagnostics, and controlled test runs to ensure proper functionality and system reliability.
• Provides limited support in related trades (plumbing, welding, HVAC) as necessary to maintain facility operations, with primary focus on electrical systems and controls.
• Inspects electrical installations and equipment to ensure compliance with applicable building codes, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Implements and maintains Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and documentation to ensure safe servicing of electrical and mechanical systems.

• Employee must be physically able to work in areas so as to not harm themselves or others, and must be able to safely use and repair machinery and tools.
• Employee must be able to perform required maintenance on building and equipment as required by a supervisor.
• Employee must maintain a preventive maintenance schedule of all general equipment to include compressors, boilers, and heating equipment.
• Employee must understand how to fill out all paperwork for all areas.
• Must possess computer knowledge sufficient to perform the job.
• Must be a problem solver with very good mechanical ability, and work well as a team.
• Employee must be able to operate all machines and equipment in the maintenance department and to fabricate and machine parts and special adapters as directed by supervisor.
• Employee must be able to communicate with supervisor any issues they may find that affects the performance of the area, product, or safety of the facility.

• Industrial Electrical Wiring, PK Programming
• Machining and Metal Working Tools and Equipment
• Skill level – skilled trade.
• Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Up to 50lbs of force exerted occasionally, and up to 20lbs frequently, up to 10lbs constantly.

Employee may be exposed to wet and humid conditions and Dust/Fumes/Gas or Chemicals. Employee may need to work around extreme heat or cold, moving machinery, heights, or cramped areas.

This position requires some on the job training. A minimum of a high school diploma or GED, and technical certificate must be held by employee to qualify for this position. In lieu of technical training certificate, equivalent experience, other technical training or combination of the two may be acceptable to fulfil qualifications.
