Field/Service Technician, Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Trans Core (TRN), a subsidiary of ST Engineering, is seeking a full-time Field Technician to join our team in the Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania area.
Essential Duties and Responsibilitiesinclude the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Toll system maintenance for the PA Turnpike
- Alternating schedule 24/7 on a rotating basis with other technicians, including on-call and weekend shifts, for both field service and remote-work from home (shift differential pay available)
- Preventative maintenance and troubleshooting/repair of equipment including in-lane scales and load cells, In-lane loops and loop detectors, lane controllers/LPU’s (servers and PC hardware), automatic multi-mode systems, power supplies, video surveillance equipment, network components (routers, switches, cabling) and miscellaneous electronics.
- Company provided vehicles, with personal use permitted during non-work hours with restrictions
- Company provided cell phones, laptop and tools.
- Valid PA drivers license (clean driving record required)
- Basic computer skills (MS Word and Excel)
- Ability to diagnose system problems using a voltmeter, cable testers and diagnostic programs
- Ability to lift/carry 50 pounds occasionally
- Ability to maneuver in tight spaces both underground and above via bucket truck
- Ability to follow mandated safety procedures
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers and Trans Core team members
- Self-motivated with minimum amount of supervision
- Fundamental electrical/mechanical knowledge
- High speed internet connection for remote system analysis and repairs
- Basic electrical, electronics, mechanical experience
- Any applicable knowledge of Toll Systems
- Required - High School Diploma or GED
- Required - Associates in electronics/electronic engineering, equivalent military training/experience, or relevant work experience
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical SkillsAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning AbilityAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
