Summary

Pottawattamie County Conservation is announcing the hiring of part-time seasonal Kitchen Staff Team Members.
Individuals in this role will work under the supervision of the Kitchen Manager and Kitchen Staff Team Lead and will play a critical role in preparing and delivering high quality meals to our guests. Whether assisting with food prep or helping to maintain a clean kitchen environment, your efforts will surely help to create memorable dining experiences for our guests.

• Assist in ensuring that inventory is taken properly and in a timely fashion.
• Assist the Kitchen Manager in creating order lists, including but not limited to food, beverages, cleaning supplies, condiments, utensils, and food safety items.
• Follow and maintain all sanitation and safety standards as outlined by law, covering employee health and personal hygiene, proper food storage and labeling, and sanitization of kitchen equipment and prep areas.
• Perform food prep and cooking duties, checking food for presentation, temperature, and portion sizes.
• Use the POS system to take orders from guests.
• Prep the kitchen for opening, which includes lighting fryers, prepping food for service, preparing hot drinks (coffee maker, hot cocoa machine), stocking coolers and snacks, refilling condiments and silverware, and stocking napkins.
• Close the kitchen, turning fryers off, storing all food properly with correct labeling and dates, cleaning and sanitizing kitchen equipment, and cleaning food prep areas, sweeping and mopping the kitchen floor, and cleaning the dining area by vacuuming, wiping tables, counters, and stanchions.
• Close out the POS terminal and balance the cash drawer, filling out all paperwork necessary to accurately account for sales.
• Assist Kitchen Manager and Kitchen Staff Team Lead in checking in deliveries and stocking items correctly.
• Perform dining area cleanup and restroom cleaning, including vacuuming, wiping tables and counters, taking trash out, cleaning trash bins, mopping restroom floors, cleaning sinks, toilets and walls, dusting, and restocking restroom items.
• Work with other departments when needed and perform other duties as assigned.

• General knowledge of, and ability to prep and prepare food for guests.
• Ability to use a computer.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to understand and follow both oral and written instructions.
• Ability to communicate effectively with team members and guests.

• Must be fourteen (14) years old at the time of hire.
• Previous experience working in a kitchen preferred, but not necessary.
• Must have reliable transportation to and from the ski area.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
