The project aims at comprehensively analyzing the Romanian labor market using data available on online recruiting platforms deploying state-of-art approaches in Natural Language Processing, Semantic Web and Agent-based Modeling. For this purpose, an extensive quantitative and qualitative analysis of the Romanian labor market is performed in order to prospect the opinion of various groups of stakeholders regarding the alignment and calibration of skills demanded by the labor market and those developed and trained in the education system.
Given the fact that employment-oriented online services are the main source of information for job seekers willing to search and apply for vacant positions, they represent a rich source of data for understanding which occupations are in demand and also what skills are relevant for each occupation. Starting from existing taxonomies and by extracting data using advanced Natural Language Processing techniques, a knowledge graph of the Romanian labor market will be created.
Through an Agent-based Modeling approach the dynamics of the labor market will be analyzed considering various scenarios. To this end agents having similar characteristics to the entities (job seekers and firms) will be defined in an agent-based model, which will simulate the demand and supply. Based on agent-based simulations, a series of recommendations are made to reduce the gap between demand and supply on the job market.
Furthermore, an online platform will be developed to serve as a support tool for the job seekers that can select from a list of skills the ones they possess, and the platform will recommend matching jobs. Other stakeholders can also benefit from the use of the platform, as it will help them reduce the time needed to find proper employees or adapt their curricula to the requirements of the market.
Based on the results of the analyses, a series of recommendations will be made for all categories of stakeholders to support the process of job matching
