Intern Chemist

Basic Function

Sonneborn LLC, an HF Sinclair company, is recruiting for Chemist Interns in our Petrolia, Pennsylvania facility. The Interns will work under close and frequent supervision while conducting routine chemistry/laboratory assignments for the Quality Control Lab and Product Development Departments.

• Assists with samples and conducts standard tests on raw materials, intermediates, and finished products and may train others to perform standard tests depending on location.
• Assists with testing that is carried out as per established methods/procedures.
• Assists with reviewing records, reports, and certifies results.
• Assists with routine maintenance and calibrations on laboratory equipment.

May also perform other duties, including:

• Assists other departments in sampling, testing, and compliance monitoring.
• Ships samples designated as hazardous.

Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their supervisor, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion.

Some completed courses needed for a Bachelors Degree in Chemistry or related field is required.

Basic knowledge of Chemistry concepts and the ability to apply this knowledge analytically.

Office and plant based.

Job conditions require standing, making visual inspections, making precise hand and finger movements, reaching or grasping, and wearing personal protective equipment (beards not permitted). Job conditions may require sitting, walking, twisting, stooping, crouching, kneeling, talking or hearing, and lifting and/or carrying up to 10lbs, and pushing and/or pulling up to 10 lbs, and perceiving color differences, and strenuous physical activity.
