The Position
The Department of Conservation & Natural Resources is actively seeking a committed Park Maintenance Worker to become part of the team at Ole Bull State Park, within the Kettle Creek state Park Complex. This position engages in semi-skilled manual labor essential for maintenance and enhancement of park facilities and landscapes. Ideal candidates demonstrate a robust work ethic and genuine enthusiasm for safeguarding natural resources.

In this position, you will engage in semi-skilled tasks independently or assist a skilled worker in routine maintenance and construction activities within a State Park. Responsibilities include repairing buildings and facilities using tools from carpentry, electrical, and plumbing trades. You will operate and maintain vehicles and equipment used throughout the park, ensuring they are clean and well-maintained.
Additional responsibilities: construct simple forms for cement work, mixing and placing cement, finish surfaces with masonry tools, lay stone and block walls. Ground maintenance: mowing grass, cutting weeds, managing firewood, picking up litter, maintaining cleanliness. Prepare sites for new turf, plant and care for trees and shrubs, paint or stain park structures, signs, and gates.
General housekeeping and building maintenance: clean restrooms and offices, perform minor repairs like replacing light bulbs, ensure safe use of tools and equipment. Assist park visitors with information in a friendly manner, complete necessary documentation such as daily records and fuel dispensing logs. Operate a two-way radio following established procedures to maintain effective communication.
Work Schedule and Additional Information- This is a seasonal, full-time position with no healthcare benefits. The season runs from approximately March 2026 until November 2026. At the end of the season the employee will be placed on leave without pay. The employee will automatically be returned to employment around March 2027.
- Work shifts/days vary. Work 5 days 37.5 hours per week to include weekends and holidays if needed.
