Unit OverviewAllegheny Valley Hospital’s Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit is a comprehensive unit with 17 specialized beds for patients with complex illnesses, post‑stroke, and surgical needs. The unit offers advanced rehabilitation services for traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injuries, and orthopedic needs, providing patients with at least three hours of structured therapy daily, five days a week. The LPN works with a multidisciplinary team of social workers, respiratory therapists, nutritionists, physiatrists, and others to prepare patients for the next stage of recovery.
EssentialResponsibilities
- Performs general nursing care in accordance with nursing practice standards.
- Assists with preparing equipment and assists the physician/clinical provider during treatment, examination, and testing of patients.
- Collects assessment data, prepares patients for examination, and documents clinical information on patient records.
- Orders diagnostic tests as directed by a registered nurse or physician, gathers tests, and examines results before assessment.
- Schedules procedures and obtains authorizations as necessary.
- May give injections or medication, collect blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, and prepare them for testing.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Current state licensure as an LPN or LVN or current multi‑state licensure through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
- CPR – American Heart Association.
- Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.
- Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate.
- Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.
- 0‑1 year healthcare experience.
- State-approved IV course certification.
- Knowledge of OASIS documentation and assessment process.
- PALS or ACLS certification may be required based on the specific area of practice.
