About the JobPurpose Statement:
The Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse works under the direction of a qualified professional nurse. The role participates in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care, within the objectives, standards, and policies of the department and within the parameters of the licensing board. The nurse communicates and works collaboratively with members of the multidisciplinary team—including medical staff, administration, clinicians, dietitians, and milieu personnel—to ensure high client safety standards and a therapeutic environment.
This position is onsite at the facility and is not a remote position.
Pay Range: $34.00 – $36.00 per hour.
Shifts:
6 p.m. – 6 a.m.
- Provides direct and individualized nursing care to an assigned group of clients under the supervision of a registered professional nurse, while always maintaining client safety and following unit and facility policies and procedures.
- Assists in health and psychiatric teaching for clients and families, and serves as a role model for clients and peers.
- Shares responsibility for planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care plans.
- Effectively communicates with medical staff, follows verbal/written orders, and minimizes errors. Participates in team conferences, sharing knowledge, information, and ideas.
- Prepares, administers, controls, and accurately records medications in accordance with policy regarding the administration of medications by a licensed practical nurse, with thorough documentation of effects and/or adverse reactions.
- Observes, documents, and communicates with/reports to the RN in charge any clinical, physical, unit, personnel, or other issues that could alter client care. Reports status changes and concerns to registered nurses and doctors, and coordinates with all departments as needed.
- Consults, follows, and documents nursing care according to facility policy and procedures, recording client symptoms, responses, and progress concisely, accurately, and completely.
- Safely and accurately performs vital signs, electrocardiograms, phlebotomy/labs, and diabetic/glucose monitoring. Interprets results and takes appropriate nursing action.
- Provides coverage in emergency services as needed.
- Graduation from an approved Licensed Practical/Vocational Nursing Program.
- One or more years of nursing experience in a clinical area similar to services provided by the facility (preferred).
- Knowledge of and experience with psychotropic medications and medication administration procedures.
- Ability to apply nursing standards and practice within a recovery setting.
- Valid, current registered practical/vocational nursing license from the state (or from a nurse compact state, where applicable).
- CPR certification and de-escalation training required (training available upon hire and offered by the facility).
- First aid may be required based on state or facility requirements.
