Overview

Lead a Global movement. Shape the Future of Dementia Care. With an estimated 55 million people worldwide living with dementia and the number affected set to rise to 139 million by 2050, particularly in low- and middle-income countries, up to three quarters of those with dementia worldwide have still not received a diagnosis and almost 62% of healthcare practitioners worldwide incorrectly think that dementia is part of normal ageing.

Representing people and nations on all continents, Alzheimer’s Disease International (ADI) is the global voice on dementia. From our roots with just four members in 1984, today we are a global federation of over 100 national Alzheimer and dementia associations, in official relations with the World Health Organization (WHO).

We lead global advocacy to make dementia a public health priority, while supporting national efforts by member associations. We work with global public health organisations to shape policies, advocate for fully funded national dementia plans and drive systems-level change. We bring stakeholders together working in coalition to undertake research, raise awareness, protect rights and champion fairness in dementia care and support worldwide.

Role

We are seeking an inspiring, collaborative and values-driven Chief Executive Officer to lead ADI into its next chapter. As CEO, you will be the public face of a respected global movement — championing the rights, dignity and inclusion of people affected by dementia, empowering our member associations, and driving policy change at international, regional and national levels. You will guide a long-term strategy that delivers risk reduction, timely diagnosis, quality care and inclusion today, while accelerating progress toward a cure tomorrow.

The role calls for proven leadership and general management experience in a relatable organisational environment, most likely as a CEO within a non-governmental, non-profit organisation operating with an international perspective.

Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership to advance ADI’s mission and advocacy for dementia as a public health priority.
  • Lead a global movement, engage with member associations, and represent ADI in international arenas.
  • Drive policy change, stakeholder engagement, and collaboration with global health organisations, governments, and non-governmental partners.
  • Oversee income generation and fundraising activities, working with funding bodies.
  • Ensure effective decision-making, accountability, and operating with integrity and inclusiveness.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Proven leadership and general management experience, preferably as a CEO within a non-governmental or non-profit organisation with an international focus.
  • Experience with income generation and fundraising from diverse funding bodies.
  • Excellent communication and advocacy skills with high-level stakeholder management experience.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with international bodies such as WHO and the UN, governments, other NGOs, and corporate partners with an interest in Alzheimer’s and dementia.
Values and Leadership

Grounded in respect, integrity, inclusiveness, accountability and cooperation, you will lead with purpose, impact and humanity.
