Associate Pastor

Overview

Mt. Vernon Christian Church is seeking a full-time Associate Pastor. The purpose of the position is to help people grow in their walks with the Lord and to reach farther in the community and around the world. The Associate Pastor will work alongside the Senior Pastor in the area of family ministry, providing spiritual leadership, encouragement and resources.

Mt. Vernon Christian Church (Kirkwood, PA)

Education: Preferred a Bachelor’s degree from a Christian college or at least 2 years experience working in a ministry setting.

Primary Responsibilities

• Support the Senior Pastor in the overall leadership of the church ministries.
• Supervise and provide oversight for the Children’s and Student Ministries.
• a. Supervision of all paid and volunteer staff associated with Children and Student Ministry.
• b. Work with current staff/volunteers to train, recruit and strengthen the ministries, including Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings.
• c. Work with the Children’s Ministry Director and Student Ministry leaders to equip and encourage parents in the training of their children.
• Direct oversight of the small group ministry, including recruiting and training new leaders and building the ministry. The Associate Pastor must lead a small group as well.
• Oversee MVCC’s Family outreach programs and events (Egg Hunt, Concerts, etc.).
• a. Develop new ideas for different family events and implement them.

Secondary Responsibilities

• Assisting in pastoral responsibilities as deemed appropriate by the Senior Pastor, including preaching or other teaching opportunities, visitation/hospital visits, and assisting with weddings and funerals.
• Attend all staff meetings, congregational meetings, or other meetings deemed necessary by the Senior Pastor or Elder board.

• Align with the Theology, Vision and Mission of MVCC (found on our website)
• Meets the Biblical qualifications found in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9

Senior Pastor

1. The Associate Pastor will provide the Senior Pastor monthly reports.

2. One performance review annually.

Hours per week: 40 hours (includes all church-related activity). Evening hours will be required. This is a full-time position.

Salary: Up to $60,000
