Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, Industrial Maintenance

Job Summary
Performs general maintenance and preventative/predictive maintenance on a variety of blowmold and injection, auxiliary and plant support equipment. The individual is required to apply knowledge either gained on-the-job or previous experience of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic theory and procedure to troubleshoot, perform preventative maintenance and complete necessary repairs. The overall goal is to assist in minimizing downtime due to breakdown repairs and PM's as well as optimize the quality of products manufactured to the highest degree.

Responsibilities- Apply knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic theory and procedure in maintenance and repair of blowmold and injection, auxiliary and support equipment.
- Analyze, set up and maintain equipment for safe and continuous operation for blowmold, injection, drying apparatus, mechanical systems, construction.
- Electrical skills: read electrical schematics, troubleshoot PLC programs and logic, work on installation of PLCs, change motors, install relays and starters, install control circuits.
- Hydraulic skills: read hydraulic schematics, troubleshoot hydraulic circuits, repair, change or upgrade equipment.
- Mechanical skills: perform maintenance on all types of equipment represented in the plant; refrigerating, drying, conveying, fluid pumps, blowing and vacuum pumps, pneumatic circuits and welding/fabrication.
- Follow all established safety rules and guidelines as outlined in the Amcor "No Injuries Safety Contract" and as trained. Communicate hazards and safety issues to co‑workers and Supervisors. Properly use all required personal protective equipment.
- Perform other related duties as directed by the Maintenance Manager to insure the smooth and orderly operation of finished product movement in the area assigned.
- Authorizations: shut down/stop equipment if continued operation poses a threat to any employee's health and safety; recommend staff stop production for unacceptable quality; recommend staff quarantine out‑of‑specification products, materials or supplies; contact any member of Management without fear of reprisal concerning quality, working conditions or job environment.
- High school diploma or graduate of vo‑tech program preferred.
- Completed all requirements of Mold Technician or prove previous experience as a Maintenance Mechanic in a Manufacturing environment.
- Experience with blow molding and injection equipment.
- Physical requirements:
Heavy physical demand; lift/push/pull up to 100 pounds, lift up to 75–100 pounds from ground to 6 feet overhead, carry weight, stand/walk up to 11 hours per shift, work 12‑hour shifts day or nights including weekends and holidays. - Ability to bend, turn, kneel, squat, crawl, climb, reach, turn wrist, grasp, pinch and perform finger manipulation.
- Must wear hearing and eye protection, protective clothing including steel‑toe shoes; wear hard hats during operation of cranes or man‑lifts.
- Supply own tools sufficient to perform maintenance tasks in the disciplines of the scope needed to perform assigned duties.
- Ability to recognize and understand numbers and values related to job functions.
- Ability to visually and mentally prioritize decisions/judgment calls in the situation at hand.
- Proficient hand/eye coordination; ability to operate equipment and assemble packaging; communicate clearly; efficiently use a computer and related software for record keeping and machine troubleshooting/maintenance.
