Production Manager
Basic Function
Sonneborn, an HF Sinclair company, is seeking a Compounding Supervisor for their Petrolia, Pennsylvania facility. The role oversees daily operations in the Compounding, Pet/Wax, White Oil, and Sulfonate production areas, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient processes while meeting production goals for both quality and quantity. Operating with minimal direct supervision, the supervisor maintains consistent workflow and operational performance.
Responsibilities- Carry out daily operations and assignments under the direction of the Department Superintendent.
- Follow through on tasks and provide proactive updates regarding any issues that may impact production or safety.
- Ensure employees are properly trained in job duties, company work rules, operating procedures, and performance expectations.
- Lead, support, and sustain team processes focused on safety, health, environmental compliance, product quality, cost effectiveness, and adherence to company policies and procedures.
- Investigate, resolve, and/or coordinate resources to address issues related to safety, health and environmental performance, product quality, efficiency, and labor relations.
- Ensure production schedules are executed accurately and on time in alignment with the established manufacturing plan.
- Promote and maintain good housekeeping practices, proper equipment care, and secure, well‑maintained facilities within all assigned areas.
- Complete and submit all required departmental reports and documentation accurately and on schedule.
- Communicate company updates, policies, and other relevant information to employees within the work group.
- Special assignments or tasks assigned by the supervisor as needed.
- 3+ years in a refinery/petrochemical or 5+ years in another industrial site.
- Experience in a Union facility.
- Demonstrated experience in management and knowledge of high‑performance work teams.
A minimum of a Post‑Secondary Education, Associate's Degree, or Technical Degree/Certification is required. A Bachelor's Degree in a related science or business discipline is preferred.
Skills- Prior supervisory or lead experience in manufacturing or chemical processing preferred.
- Strong understanding of safety practices, production processes, and quality standards.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams and coordinate across departments.
- Problem‑solving skills with the ability to respond quickly to operational issues.
- Working knowledge of SAP preferred.
Direct supervision of bargaining unit operations employees.
Work ConditionsPetroleum refinery and driver‑based environment including but not limited to chemical, pressure vessels, tanks, rotating equipment, confined spaces, and exposure to electrical shock. Subject to all weather and road conditions. May require long hours, nights, weekends, holidays, and on‑call availability.

Physical RequirementsJob conditions require standing, walking, sitting, talking or hearing, making visual inspections, precise hand and finger movements, lifting or carrying up to 50 lbs., climbing up to 200 ft, perceiving color differences, wearing personal protective equipment as needed and a respirator in emergency situations (beards are not permitted). Depending on location, a comprehensive medical physical examination may be required. Job conditions may require twisting, stooping, crouching, kneeling, reaching or grasping, and working in confined spaces as permitted.
