Pennsylvania Sawmill Co. is a specialized woodworking shop located in Spring Mills, PA. We pride ourselves on blending traditional techniques with a rustic aesthetic to create one-of-a-kind fine timber products. Our shop is a place for makers who value the soul of the wood and the precision of the joinery.
The RoleWe are seeking an experienced carpenter for our custom fine timer shop. The ideal candidate with have prior experience with and a deep passion for fine woodworking. This isn't production-line work; you will be responsible for bringing complex, custom designs to life in a creative, rustic shop environment.
Key Responsibilities- Custom Fabrication: Craft high-end timber products, including Decorative Box Beams, Timber frame structures and trusses and Custom beam and trim packages.
- Technical Mastery: Read and interpret detailed shop drawings and blueprints.
- Material Handling: Load and unload delivery trucks, store materials, load and unload dry kilns and prepare materials for shipment to customers.
- Precision Joinery: Execute complex joints (mortise and tenon, dovetails, etc.) using both hand and power tools.
- Maintain clean and safe work environment: Be knowledgeable in safety requirements for utilized tools and handling/lifting heavy materials.
- Experience: Minimum 5+ years of professional experience in carpentry.
- Skill Set: Expert proficiency with table saws, shapers, planers, routers, sanders and traditional hand tools.
- Eye for Detail: A "perfectionist" mindset regarding measurements, fit, and finish.
- Physicality: Ability to handle large timber and work on your feet in a shop setting. This role will require occasional heavy lifting.
- Creative Freedom: Work on unique, non-repetitive projects that challenge your skills.
