Location: Morgantown
Melt Operator, PAM - 2nd Shift (4pm - 12am) - Morgantown PA
Precision Castparts is seeking a Melt Operator for the 2nd shift (4pm-12am) in Morgantown, PA. Operate and maintain furnaces, set up and troubleshoot systems, and perform skilled maintenance tasks as required.
Responsibilities- Follow standard manufacturing and operating procedures.
- Strong learning aptitude; 75% of required knowledge learned on the job.
- Develop understanding of vacuum, plasma, and helium technologies.
- Perform pre-operative checks using the pump down cycle checklist.
- Set up and operate the furnace for melting, including: loading material, pumping down furnace, setting torch patterns, operating data logging instrumentation, melting and casting, unloading ingots.
- Interpret basic chemistry specifications and furnace- casting conditions.
- Interpret video monitors, gauges, meters while operating the plasma furnace.
- Maintain operating records and logs, material and maintenance needed lists.
- Perform pumping speed and rate of rise tests for vacuum system condition.
- Clean out furnaces, replace damaged components; change molds, hearths, shields, and feed devices.
- Operate leak detectors.
- Use various hand and power tools as directed.
- Perform maintenance ensuring good operating condition of furnace and auxiliary equipment (electrical, electronic, vacuum, hydraulic, pneumatic, cooling systems).
- Willing to work in hot and dirty environments.
- Correctly use material handling equipment such as forklifts and cranes.
- Perform mechanical skill functions such as flame cut, arc weld, silver solder, and soft solder.
- Use tools such as wrench, drills, grinders, saws.
- Perform maintenance work.
- Work in accordance with established safety rules and good housekeeping practices.
- Wear a respirator.
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent; trade school or additional training preferred.
- 3 years working experience in a relevant environment preferred.
- Mechanically inclined with basic math skills.
- Ability to work any schedule, including holidays and weekends.
- Forklift and crane operating experience highly preferred.
- Must be able to wear a respirator.
- Ability to work in confined spaces.
