Responsibilities include:

• Planting, digging, mulching, transplanting, mowing, watering, weed eating, and pulling weeds in nurseries and seasonal greenhouses.
• Fertilizing, pruning, spraying, spacing, watering, tagging, and performing other plant maintenance.
• Occasionally aiding in the spreading/spraying of chemicals on plants.
• Cleaning and sweeping greenhouses, including under tables.
• Operating electric power conveyor belts, pot filling equipment, and dirt equipment.
• Counting and inventorying plants, plastic, and soil.
• Propagating plants from cuttings.
• Loading plants onto carts and trucks, moving carts manually and with electric tugging machines (Pack Mules).
• Removing plastic from seasonal greenhouses in spring and re-covering with plastic in fall.
• Assisting with maintenance of greenhouses.
• Potting and planting bare roots and field‑grown plants, and performing general maintenance.
• Filling, lifting, and carrying pots and plants weighing up to 60 pounds; lifting to a height of up to 6 feet.
• Hanging baskets overhead on drip lines and lowering baskets to fill orders.
• Operating and maintaining agricultural equipment with or without direction, including power shears, chainsaws, high lifts, forklifts, Pack Mules, tractors, and other nursery equipment.
• Driving, relocating, and operating box trucks as needed to load and unload plant material.

Work may involve long periods in the field, under wet weather conditions, and in greenhouses. Workers should be able to work on their feet in bent positions for extended periods. Allergies to ragweed, goldenrod, or insect spray chemicals may affect the ability to perform the job.
