Location: Houston
Overview
The Electrical Technician will be required to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain machinery used in the processing of titanium bar and wire products. This equipment includes A/C and D/C motors with drives up to 2000 HP, PLC and HMI systems and all related field I/O devices, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, new production line installations and power distribution systems.
Key Responsibilities- Assembles, tests, troubleshoots and repairs motor control devices, switch panels, transformers, generator windings, solenoids, hydraulic, pneumatic and other electrical equipment and systems.
- Modifies electrical systems to correct functional deviations.
- Knowledge of and ability to program and troubleshoot PLCs.
- Diagnoses cause of electrical or mechanical malfunction or failure of operational equipment and performs preventative and corrective maintenance.
- Assists in developing wiring diagrams, layout drawings, and engineering specifications for system or equipment modifications or expansion and directs personnel performing routine installation and maintenance duties.
- Performs and records periodic electrical testing and recommends or initiates modification or replacement of equipment which fails to meet acceptable operating standards.
- Identifies potential areas of product and process improvement; assists with development of appropriate solutions.
- Involved in the development of new methods to improve product quality and automation.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school and 5 years of manufacturing or industrial experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in PLCs (Siemens preferred), HMI, SCADA and networking.
- Experience with AC and DC motor drive systems.
- Knowledge of power distribution systems, 480V to 25
Kv. - Understanding of NFPA 70E and OSHA requirements.
- Familiar with Auto Cad.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent analytical and math skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Proven ability to identify, assess and solve problems.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software program.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
- Must be able to work steady third shift (midnight shift)
