Summary

Provides leadership and direction in the day‑to‑day supervision of the team to achieve all aspects of production on our leased and owned poultry farms to include competitive performance and maintaining compliance in a safe manner with all local, county, state and federal regulations as they relate to poultry production.

Principal And

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Travels to growout facilities, poultry houses, and/or research farms monitoring conditions to ensure bird health.
  • Provides leadership, training, and coaching to associates and producers to ensure all company policies and programs are met.
  • Complies with company requirements regarding bio‑security, food safety, and poultry welfare programs and policies at all times.
  • Establishes, measures, and is accountable for operating and capital budgets for the operation to maintain a competitive industry position.
  • Drives program compliance and competitive farm performance.
  • In farm management, meets all facility operational plans to ensure scheduling of placements, harvest, health checks and accurate weight projections for bird movements.
  • Reports on progress, including physical farm improvements, performance metrics, and safety.
  • As a Housing Manager, works with new prospects and existing growers to add the square footage needed to meet the complex’s needs.
  • Manages average service cost of the complex, ensuring it does not exceed the current average by strategically locating new farms near plant locations.
  • Facilitates construction of additional square footage by evaluating new sites, introducing prospects to lenders, working with builders and equipment companies to provide quotes, arranging grading bids, and managing contractor scheduling to attain the most objective footage in the least time.
  • Develops new grading contractors, builders, equipment vendors, and electricians to support expansion.
  • Works with lenders, zoning, university staff, and extension to facilitate the expansion project.
  • Ensures a safe working environment for associates on the site.
Minimum Education

High School or equivalent.

Experience Requirements
  • 3 – 5 years experience. Good communication (oral and written), reading, math, and analytical skills.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Should be computer literate with skills in Microsoft.
  • Must be able to organize multiple protocols/projects and complete them on schedule.
  • Ability to develop protocols and processes and deploy.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve problems at both a strategic and functional level.
  • Must be able to communicate at all levels of the organization.
  • Must be able to travel to other facilities and plant locations.
Experience Preferred

BS degree in Animal Science or related discipline.

Environmental Factors And

Physical Requirements
  • Must be physically able to work in all locations, including hatcheries, feed mills, chicken houses, and processing plants. Exposed to seasonal weather conditions as well as significant amount of airborne dust and feathers.
  • When in a plant environment:
    Exposure primarily consists of wet and moist floors which include metal and plastic grating surfaces. May be exposed to temperatures of 28°F to 100°F with both ambient and 100% humidity. May handle product 25°F to 50°F. May be exposed to noise ranges of 50 dB to 110 dB. May be exposed to all chemicals used in poultry, food, processing facility. Must wear and use protective and safety equipment required for the job as directed by the Company.
  • Exposure to chicken manure and associated odors, including ammonia, especially in production houses.
  • Required to perform moderate physical exertion to include pushing, pulling and lifting up to 75 lbs.
  • Must be able to climb to a height of 30′ as well as significant amount of bending, lifting and stooping.
