Shop Welder​/General Mechanic

Muschlitz Excavating is seeking a skilled Shop Welder/General Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for welding and assembling metal components in a controlled shop environment, ensuring precision and structural integrity in every project.

• Repair or modify equipment as needed based on project requirements
• Measure, cut, and prepare metal pieces using hand tools, saws, and grinders
• Set up and operate welding equipment (MIG, TIG, Stick) to join metal components
• Align and clamp parts using calipers, rulers, and fixtures to ensure proper fit
• Inspect and test welds for quality, strength, and compliance with specifications
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to company, government, and equipment related safety requirements
• Follow all shop safety procedures, including use of PPE and equipment maintenance
• Effectively communicate equipment issues with supervisor
• Perform other duties as assigned by the manager
• Mandatory overtime (as needed)

• Proven experience as a welder in a shop or industrial setting
• High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certification preferred
• MUST have own tools
• Proficiency in MIG, TIG and Stick welding techniques
• Familiarity with metal types and welding properties
• Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and welding codes (e.g., AWS)
• Exhibit a clear understanding of the necessity of equipment safety and a high level of safety consciousness
• Ability to communicate equipment issues and understand job assignments
• Must have a valid driver's license and acceptable diving record

• Indoor fabrication shop
• May involve lifting heavy materials and standing for extended periods
• Exposure to loud machinery and welding fumes (PPE provided)
