JOB TITLE: Pipe Fitter / Welder
DIVISION: Repairs & Maintenance
LOCATION: Poseyville, IN
REPORTS TO: Repairs & Maintenance Operations Manager
What You Will DoThe Pipe Welder is responsible for fitting, welding, and assembling pipe systems and components in accordance with project specifications, safety standards, and Nix Industrial quality expectations. This role performs advanced welding on carbon steel, stainless steel, and other materials using GMAW, SMAW, and GTAW processes. The ideal candidate has strong attention to detail, takes pride in high-quality welds, and thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
HowYou Will Do It
- Read and interpret blueprints, isometric drawings, and welding symbols.
- Fit, weld, and assemble pipe systems to precise tolerances.
- Perform GMAW (MIG), SMAW (Stick), and GTAW (TIG) welding on a variety of materials and thicknesses.
- Layout, measure, cut, and prepare pipe components for welding.
- Perform welding that meets X-ray or PT testing requirements when applicable.
- Operate hand tools, grinders, torches, saws, and fabrication equipment safely.
- Inspect welds visually and verify conformance to quality standards.
- Collaborate with welders, fabricators, fitters, and supervisor to complete projects efficiently.
- Follow all safety rules, wear required PPE, and maintain a clean work area.
- Assist with fabrication tasks, shop work, or field installation as needed.
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed.
- 2-5 Years Of Pipe Welding Experience Preferred.
- Certified welders are preferred but not required.
- Proficient in MIG, Stick, and TIG welding.
- A welder qualification test will be required.
- Ability to independently fit pipe and weld to code-quality standards.
- Strong understanding of pipe fabrication, weld inspection, and welding symbols.
- Ability to troubleshoot fit-up or weld issues with minimal supervision.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and craftsmanship.
