The Accounting Manager – Special Projects & Operations is a key member of the finance team responsible for leading special accounting initiatives, overseeing financial reporting and operational accounting functions, and supervising two team members dedicated to special projects. This role combines technical accounting, financial analysis, operational oversight, and hands-on execution.

The position also serves as backup support for Accounts Payable and collaborates cross-functionally to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting, including government and per patient day reporting.

OVERVIEW OF THE ACCOUNTING MANAGER ROLE:

• Lead and manage special accounting projects, including process improvements, system enhancements, and ad hoc financial analyses.
• Oversee preparation and coordination of annual and supplemental budgets.
• Manage fixed asset accounting, including capitalization, tracking, and depreciation.
• Prepare and review per patient day calculations and related financial metrics.
• Coordinate and prepare required government reporting and supplemental filings.
• Provide analytical support for strategic initiatives and operational decision-making.
• Oversee credit card settlement processes, ensuring timely reconciliation and accurate recording.
• Supervise, mentor, and develop two staff members focused on special projects.
• Serve as backup to Accounts Payable when needed.
• Provide oversight and guidance on AP processes to ensure continuity of operations.
• Assist in resolving vendor issues or escalations as required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE ACCOUNTING MANAGER ROLE:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of fixed assets, depreciation, budgeting, and financial reporting.
• Proficiency in accounting systems and Microsoft Excel.
