Essential Functions:
- Safety and Occupational health
- Conduct Safety Orientation for all employees including agency temporaries
- Responsible for OSHA reporting and monthly business Key Performance Indicator metrics
- Work with the plant leadership team on the development and communication of safety related policies and procedures
- Work with the operations team to conduct a timely investigation of all work place accidents and near misses. Follow the 8D process to Identify root causes of accidents and near misses and help to identify a plan to prevent similar incidents.
- Provide ongoing safety training to the organization.
- Determine the most appropriate PPE to use by plant personnel and maintain adequate supply
- Partner with Human Resources in the management of worker’s compensation administration and plant light duty program.
- Coordinate internal and external safety audits to help identify potential workplace hazards and correct them before accidents occur. Track implementation of recommendations to completion.
- Develop and coordinate the safety incentive program.
- Ensure that provisions of the Environmental Management System are established, maintained, and implemented in accordance with ISO 14001 Standards.
- Supervise and participate in the preparation of HSE procedures, manuals, audits, and reports.
- Oversee environmental permit applications.
- Maintain a current regulatory calendar, and ensure the timely preparation of required reports.
- Oversee and direct hazardous and specialty waste management system to insure timely disposal at permitted waste disposal facilities, and submittal of waste disposal information.
Requirements (Consider the required knowledge, skills, abilities, behaviors, and/or equipment)
- Associates Degree required, Bachelor’s Degree desired, would consider High School graduate or G.E.D with additional 5 years of recent and relevant EHS experience
- 2+ years of safety management experience and OSHA knowledge required
- Working knowledge of ISO 14001 Standards desired
- 3+ years of administrative experience in a manufacturing environment
- Strong Interpersonal skills
- Negotiation Skills
- Good Organizational skills
- Demonstrated initiative
- Willingness to learn new things
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
