Director Environment, Health and Safety

You will define, lead, and implement the company’s global Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) strategy, ensuring regulatory compliance, operational excellence, and alignment with corporate sustainability objectives. You will foster a strong culture of safety, environmental stewardship, business resilience, and accountability across all business units worldwide.

Reporting directly to the Vice President of Operational Excellence, this role will provide strategic direction, oversee the development and execution of global EHS programs, and ensure integration of EHS principles into the company’s operations, growth plans, and sustainability agenda. The position requires close collaboration with senior executives, functional leaders, and regional/site EHS teams to deliver measurable improvements in safety, environmental impact, and business continuity readiness.

responsibilities
  • Define, communicate, and implement a comprehensive global EHS strategy aligned with corporate objectives and sustainability commitments.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and oversight to regional and site-level EHS teams, ensuring consistent standards and practices.
  • Ensure compliance with international, national, and local regulations, certifications, and industry best practices (e.g., ISO 14001, ISO 45001).
  • Drive continuous improvement in EHS performance through data-driven analysis, audits, benchmarking, and the deployment of innovative practices and technologies.
  • Lead the development and execution of enterprise-wide risk management frameworks, including hazard identification, risk assessments, and mitigation strategies.
  • Develop and monitor KPIs to track EHS performance, providing transparent reporting and actionable insights to senior leadership.
  • Establish and maintain a robust global EHS governance framework, ensuring consistent policies, reporting, and accountability.
  • Act as a strategic advisor on emerging EHS issues, regulatory changes, and sustainability trends, assessing potential business risks and opportunities.
  • Design and deliver comprehensive training programs to build awareness and competence in EHS practices.
  • Ensure appropriate governance, reporting, and documentation systems are in place to demonstrate compliance and performance to external and internal stakeholders.
  • Play a key role in the company’s Business Continuity and Crisis Management framework, ensuring that EHS-related risks are integrated into continuity planning and emergency preparedness.
Our requirements
  • Extensive experience (10+ years) in senior EHS leadership roles within multinational companies or complex industrial environments.
  • Experience contributing to Business Continuity Planning and Crisis Management, with the ability to integrate EHS risk considerations into enterprise-wide frameworks.
  • Degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or related field.
  • Deep knowledge of global EHS regulations, standards, and certifications (e.g., OSHA, EPA, EU directives, ISO 14001, ISO 45001) and with BCP standards (e.g., ISO 22301) and cross‑functional crisis management processes.
  • Demonstrated experience integrating EHS programs into business strategy and operations at a global scale.
