Maintenance - Class B

Chichester School District is looking for a Maintenance Class B Employee to join our team!

We are looking for a candidate who will take pride in their work, keeping our schools SAFE and CLEAN for our students and staff. The ideal candidate will be experienced in maintenance and repair work for the care and up-keep of the schools. They will have the great physical endurance to cover areas and duties assigned. A keen eye for detail and diligence are also imperative in maintenance jobs.

WHAT YOU CAN DO FOR US: can include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Remove the ice and snow from the steps, entries and sidewalks;
• Keep grounds free of debris;
• Trim all hedges, shrubs and trees;
• Cut and trim grass, keeping entries, walks, and driveways free of grass clippings;
• Cultivate and weed shrubbery beds, including the interior courtyards;
• Remove the weeds growing through fences and around hard surfaced areas, including the track;
• Sweep and clean courtyards, parking areas, walkways, steps, etc.;
• Remove materials such as branches, leaves, weeds and garbage from perimeter;
• Secure buildings/storage sheds;
• Maintain and layout athletic fields, track and all outdoor playing surfaces;
• Work with a variety of materials and hardware;
• Maintain tools and equipment in working order;
• Lift and move heavy items;
• Work with ladders, scaffolds, roofs and other areas at various heights;
• Make minor repairs to lawnmowers, weed eaters, etc.;
• Dig ditches with hand and mechanical tools;
• Paint and patch after properly preparing surfaces;
• Layout and paint parking lanes, curbs and fences;
• Patch and seal drives, play areas and fences;
• Remove snow with and without tractors; and
• Assist's Class 'A' tradesmen in completion of task efficiently and professionally.
• Adheres to all safety rules for handling and disposing of cleaning agents; including universal precautions and proper use of personal protection equipment. Individual is required to be familiar and follow guidelines for the use of safety equipment when operating power equipment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; and talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands or arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and depth perception.
