Position Summary
The Custodian supports LVA’s mission by maintaining clean, safe, and welcoming facilities that promote learning. This role performs cleaning, sanitation, and light maintenance duties to ensure classrooms, offices, and common spaces are attractive, organized, and ready for students, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform daily and periodic cleaning of classrooms, hallways, restrooms, and common areas.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and sanitize surfaces and high‑touch areas.
• Safely use cleaning chemicals and custodial equipment (vacuums, buffers, floor scrubbers).
• Follow established safety and cleaning protocols, including those for bodily fluids and biohazards.
• Complete minor maintenance tasks such as replacing bulbs and unclogging toilets.
• Report facility or safety issues through FMX and communicate via radio, text, or email.
• Support event setup/breakdown and ensure areas are opened, secured, and maintained daily.
• Collaborate with the Operations team to ensure a healthy and efficient school environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Prior custodial or janitorial experience preferred.
• Ability to lift 25 lbs and up to 50 lbs using dollies, use ladders, and perform physical tasks throughout the shift.
• Reliable, safety‑conscious, and able to work independently and as part of a team.

Working Conditions

• Exposure to cleaning chemicals, dust, and varying temperatures.
• Frequent contact with students and staff.
• Requires use of communication devices (radio, cell phone, email).
