Manufacturing IT – Product Specialist (Pittsburgh, PA locations) Purpose

The Manufacturing IT Product Specialist supports strategy and drives execution for multiple digital products that largely focus on one technical platform.

Location:

Indianola, Saxonburg, and O’Hara.

This position ensures that products fulfill their primary purpose to enable users to perform tasks that create value for the company. It has two broad areas of responsibility:

  • Supporting strategic vision for the products to ensure the customer and their needs are at the center; and ensuring team priorities are supporting business outcomes for customer, product, technical and enabling teams. This requires continual alignment of the product strategy and objectives with customer, product, technical, and enabling teams.
  • Managing the product backlog, which prioritizes the work of the assigned squads, to achieve the vision and aligned strategy.

To successfully manage these areas of responsibility, product specialists must have a deep understanding of the product domain, related technology, and architecture.

Your Tasks And Responsibilities Product Strategy & Management
  • Own the product lifecycle for assigned digital manufacturing products from discovery through decommissioning;
  • Define product vision and strategy centered on user needs and business outcomes; build and maintain business cases and product roadmaps;
  • Prioritize the product backlog to align squad work with 90‑day outcomes and longer‑term objectives; write and co‑create user stories with teams;
  • Track product health (availability, stability, performance, compliance) and manage related budget responsibilities.
Manufacturing IT Support & Operations
  • Provide on‑site technical support for manufacturing applications and devices (PCs, tablets, scanners, printers, and related peripherals) across three Pittsburgh sites;
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software and connectivity issues to minimize downtime and maintain production flow;
  • Perform regular maintenance, updates and security patching for manufacturing systems and applications;
  • Assist with rollouts and implementations of new manufacturing technologies and ensure smooth adoption through training and user enablement.
Delivery, Agile & Cross‑functional Collaboration
  • Drive agile best practices with development and operations teams (sprint planning, backlog grooming, continuous planning);
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, operations, quality, cybersecurity, and finance stakeholders to ensure alignment and value delivery;
  • Escalate and coordinate resolution of technical incidents with centralized IT teams when necessary.
Continuous Improvement & Metrics
  • Define and monitor KPIs that reflect product outcomes and manufacturing operational health;
  • Use metrics and user feedback to prioritize enhancements and technical debt remediation.
Who You Are

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or similar or minimum 4 years equivalent practical experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to lead through influence initiatives that involve cross‑functional teams from initiation to delivery;
  • Ability to establish and manage initiatives against a set of key metrics and goals;
  • Strong analytical, management and organizational skills;
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities: must effectively communicate with technical and non‑technical people;
  • Experience in building product vision, product roadmap, and product strategy;
  • Experience in designing, developing, delivering or leading digital solutions.
