Principal Cloud Enterprise Architect

Location: Indiana

As a Principal Cloud & Enterprise Architect , you will define, design, and guide the implementation of modern, scalable cloud and hybrid infrastructures that are essential to unlocking AI  will partner with executives, technology leaders, AI specialists, and delivery teams to shape cloud strategies, architecture blueprints, and transformation roadmaps that enable secure, efficient, and future‑ready environments.

You bring deep expertise in cloud platforms—especially AWS and/or Microsoft Azure—paired with strong hybrid architecture experience across on‑prem and cloud infrastructures. You understand how cloud architectures, data platforms, and enterprise ecosystems must evolve to support AI workloads, modern applications, and accelerated innovation.

The role is based primarily in Switzerland and includes travel to client sites and collaboration with Vector8 teams across Europe.

Job requirements

• Fully proficient in English, with German being a strong advantage and French an additional plus.
• 8+ years of experience in enterprise architecture, cloud architecture, or large‑scale transformation programs.
• Deep expertise in AWS and/or Microsoft Azure, backed by relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect Professional, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Dev Ops or Security certifications welcomed).
• Strong experience designing and operating hybrid infrastructures—combining on‑prem environments with public cloud platforms.
• Familiarity with multiple clouds (AWS, Azure, GCP) is a strong plus.
• Expertise in cloud security, IAM, networking, compliance frameworks, and regulated enterprise environments.
• Strong understanding of data platforms, modern application architectures, containers, orchestration, and integration patterns.
• Experience designing infrastructures that support AI workloads, data pipelines, and modern digital platforms.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with ability to influence senior executives and technical teams.
• Ability to translate complex architectural challenges into clear, actionable plans and decision frameworks.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
• Willingness to travel within Switzerland and occasionally to European delivery hubs.

Job responsibilities Shape Future‑Ready Cloud Strategies

• Advise senior stakeholders across Insurance, Banking, and other regulated industries on cloud strategies and architectures that enable AI adoption and digital transformation.
• Define target architectures, principles, and blueprints for hybrid and multi‑cloud environments.
• Design modernization and migration roadmaps that are pragmatic, secure, scalable, and aligned with business priorities.

Design & Guide Hybrid Cloud Architectures

• Architect and oversee hybrid infrastructures across on‑prem, private cloud, and public cloud (Azure, AWS, GCP).
• Ensure solutions meet enterprise requirements for performance, security, compliance, and resilience.
• Integrate cloud services, data platforms, MLOps or AI platforms, identity systems, and enterprise applications into coherent ecosystems.

Enable AI Through Cloud Excellence

• Create cloud foundations that support AI workloads—high‑performance compute, data pipelines, model deployment environments, governance, and observability.
• Partner with Vector8’s AI experts to ensure architectures are optimized for scalability, experimentation, and safe AI adoption.
• Identify technology enablers that accelerate AI value realization.

Guide Execution & Technical Leadership

• Provide architectural leadership across delivery teams while ensuring solutions adhere to target architectures.
• Review designs, challenge technical decisions, and provide guidance during implementation.
• Facilitate architectural governance, risk assessments, and decision‑making processes.

Shape Client Relationships & Growth

• Build trusted relationships with CIOs, CTOs, Chief Architects, and technology leaders.
• Support business development, shaping technical vision for proposals, RfPs, and transformation programs.
• Identify opportunities to expand cloud and AI impact across business units and platforms.
