This position requires you to be working in office, 3 days per week, from our Bala Cynwyd, PA office.
Position SummaryThe Manager, Leadership Development is responsible for designing, delivering, and evolving Pep Boys' leadership development strategy and programs across store, field, and Support Center audiences. This role owns the creation and facilitation of leadership learning experiences, including new leader onboarding, cohort-based development, instructor‑led workshops, and virtual learning journeys that strengthen leadership capability, engagement, and performance. This is a highly visible, manager‑level individual contributor role that partners closely with senior leaders, HR, and Operations to identify leadership capability gaps and implement practical, business‑driven learning solutions.
The position combines instructional design, facilitation, and program ownership to support the growth of current and future leaders across the organization.
- Design and own enterprise leadership development programs, including leader onboarding, core leadership curriculum, and cohort‑based development experiences.
- Facilitate high‑impact in‑person and virtual leadership workshops for new, emerging, and experienced leaders across store, field, and Support Center teams.
- Partner with senior leaders, HR, and Operations to identify leadership capability gaps and recommend targeted development solutions aligned to business priorities.
- Develop instructor‑led learning experiences, facilitator guides, participant materials, and experiential activities that support real‑world leadership application.
- Lead the ongoing evolution of leadership learning journeys, ensuring content remains relevant, practical, and aligned with Pep Boys' culture and performance expectations.
- Evaluate program effectiveness using participant feedback, leadership performance trends, and business metrics to continuously improve leadership development outcomes.
- Provide coaching and support to leaders participating in development programs to reinforce learning and strengthen behavior change.
- Collaborate with Learning & Development and other HR leaders to ensure alignment across leadership, sales, customer experience, and operational training initiatives.
This role operates at a manager level but currently has no direct reports. The position is responsible for leading leadership development initiatives, influencing stakeholders, and driving enterprise‑wide programs through partnership, facilitation, and subject matter expertise. Future team leadership responsibilities may evolve as the leadership development function grows.
Requirements- 10+ years of experience coupled with a bachelor's degree in Organizational Development, Education, Human Resources, Business, Communications, or related field required.
- Exceptional facilitation and presentation skills with the ability to engage leaders at all levels.
- Strong instructional design capability for ILT/VILT programs, workshops, and leadership experiences.
- Ability to influence and build credibility with senior leaders and cross‑functional partners.
- Strong communication, storytelling, and interpersonal skills.
- Strategic thinking combined with a hands‑on, execution‑oriented mindset.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
- Mastery in collaboration skills and ability to work effectively across teams.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 tools and virtual facilitation platforms (e.g., Teams, Zoom).
