CT/Diagnostic Technologist II - Weekend

Summary

Perform diagnostic CT and radiologic quality imaging under the direction of a physician using professional judgment while maintaining proper technical and radiation quality standards. Provide courteous and professional delivery of imaging procedures while adhering to radiation safety precautions to promote patient satisfaction. Support patient questions and concerns regarding exam procedures and process, while maintaining appropriate confidentiality regarding PHI and HIPAA related information.

Work in a hospital facility that offers full hospital services. Provide direct patient care to high acuity patients encompassing emergency, inpatient and outpatient classes supporting up to and including trauma and ICU.

Job Duties
  • Perform all types of imaging procedures & operate all equipment safely and properly including imaging equipment, injectors, & monitors.
  • Review images of all exams, repeating as necessary to provide radiation protection in accordance with safety standards for best possible results.
  • Communicate with the patient by addressing the patient by name, introducing self to the patient, explaining the exam in lay terms and keeping the patient informed of exam progress.
  • Ensure appropriate exam is ordered and images are delivered to the correct patient folder in PACS.
  • Document LMP, fluoro time, number of images, appropriate history and any adverse reaction to contrast media or change in patient’s condition.
  • Prepare patients for imaging procedures by reviewing patient chart/script to verify pertinent information, assess patient’s needs, medical history, and provide patient education.
  • Attend department meetings or other mandatory meetings, assist with education and training of new employees, students and other ancillary personnel with a positive attitude.
  • Ensure coordination of daily work duties with the team and coordinate timing of exams.
  • Practice accurate and timely completion of scheduled and unscheduled work to maximize productivity while maintaining cleanliness and sanitation of the immediate work area.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Technical School Diploma Graduate of accredited Radiography program or equivalent and RT(CT) Certified.
  • 1 year experience as a Radiologic Technologist and 1 year experience as a CT technologist.
  • Ability to provide proper patient care essential to radiologic procedures.
  • Knowledge and skills to perform all imaging exams on patients of all ages, adapting to various protocols.
  • Proficient use of the advanced software for CT scanning and post procedure processing applications.
  • Strong aptitude for CT technology.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, positive attitude, and upbeat demeanor.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support - State of Pennsylvania within 30 Days.
  • RT - Registered Technologist Radiology - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire.
  • CT - Computed Tomography ARRT - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate’s Degree Graduate of Health Science program.
  • Knowledge and skills to perform venipuncture.
Physical Demands

Lift and carry 40-50 lbs. Examples:
Push/pull patients on bed, stretcher (requires 29 lbs. push force), lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of the patient’s weight. Frequent to continuous standing/walking. Patient transporters can walk 8-10 miles per shift.
* Patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
