Location: Berwyn

Our client, a growing real estate property management group is seeking a Real Estate Accountant to join their team.

You will be responsible for managing the cash operations, debt administration, and banking activities, in addition to accounting & financial reporting activities for a diverse portfolio of real estate assets. Additional responsibilities will include ensuring that all properties have sufficient liquidity to meet operational needs while maintaining strict internal controls over fund movements. The ideal candidate will leverage real estate accounting software (Yardi, MRI, etc.)

to optimize cash flow reporting and automate banking processes.

Key Responsibilities

Cash Management & Operations

Manage daily cash positioning for all property-level and corporate bank accounts.

Execute and record wire transfers, ACH payments, and intercompany fund movements.

Prepare weekly and monthly cash flow forecasts to assist senior management in liquidity planning.

Investigate and resolve any discrepancies in daily banking activity or electronic payments.

Debt & Compliance

Maintain a schedule of all mortgage and loan obligations, ensuring timely debt service payments.

Coordinate with lenders regarding escrow disbursements for property taxes and insurance.

Assist in the preparation of compliance certificates and financial covenants

Support the acquisition and disposition teams by coordinating the opening/closing of bank accounts and prorating cash at closing.

Accounting & Reporting

Perform monthly bank reconciliations within the accounting system (Yardi/MRI, JDE).

Record treasury-related journal entries, including interest expense, bank fees, and loan amortization.

Facilitate the distribution process to investors and partners in accordance with operating agreements.

Assist with year-end audits by providing supporting documentation for cash and debt balances.

Required Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Experience: 3+ years of accounting experience, specifically within the Real Estate industry (Commercial, Residential, or Industrial).

Technical Skills: Proficiency in Yardi Voyager, MRI, JDE or Real Page is highly preferred. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel is required.

Knowledge: Understanding of real estate deal structures, including SPVs, joint ventures, and fund accounting.
