Description
GAI is seeking a Transmission Project Engineer 1 to join our Power Delivery team in the role of Owner's Engineer. Required skills include transmission line design experience, critical thinking, problem solving, organization, team-focus, and eagerness to apply learned engineering principles to solve real life problems.
This position combines technical leadership in transmission line design with advisory responsibilities to support clients through all phases of project development and execution. The ideal candidate will have experience in high-voltage transmission line engineering and design, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to act as an independent advocate for the Owner on complex projects. This individual should be technically focused and a strong leader with developed technical, communication, and computer skills.

Competency
- Knowledge of electric utility transmission line engineering and design.
Job Responsibilities:
- Prepare specification packages, structural and fabrication drawings.
- Perform design and analysis of transmission lines using PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, and PLS-Tower.
- Conduct foundation design and analysis.
- Perform electrical clearance checks and calculations.
- Ensure compliance with client codes, standards, and specifications.
- Develop a keen understanding of Owner objectives and maintain close client relationships.
- Support Owner by managing RFIs, review submittals, and oversee design compliance.
- Identify cost savings through schedule control, scope management, and change order oversight.
- Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Implement effective engineering methods and provide technical guidance to team members.
- May mentor junior engineers and assist with proposal development for new opportunities.
- Travel to project sites for meetings and stakeholder engagement as required.

Education
- B.S. or M.S. Engineering
Certification/Licensure
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) License, reciprocity in multiple states.
Technical Responsibilities
- Occasionally serves as the technical advisor in the application of advanced concepts and methods in an assigned area.
- Keeps informed of new developments and requirements affecting the practice for the purpose of recommending changes in projects or applications.
- Occasionally develops new techniques and/or improved processes, materials, or products.
Project and Task Management
- Oversees a project team of engineers and technicians.
- Plans, schedules, and coordinates the preparation of documents or activities for multiple major projects.
- Analyzes project management plans for complex engineering projects.
- Understands project delivery uncertainties and uses risk management principles to address them.
- Reviews operational procedures to ensure compliance with applicable policies and performance measures.
Management Responsibility
- Receives administrative supervision with assignments given in terms of broad general objectives and limits.
- Mentors senior staff.
- Integrates professional attitudes relevant to the practice of engineering and fosters creativity, curiosity, flexibility, and dependability in staff.

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in outdoor environments under varying weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, and rugged terrain. Exposure to active construction sites.
- Capable of walking, hiking, or standing for extended periods during field and site visits.
- Must be able to lift and carry tools, equipment, technical samples, documents, and other materials weighing up to 40-50 pounds.
- Frequent bending, crouching, and climbing may be required during fieldwork and sample collection.
- Ability to safely operate and wear personal protective equipment (PPE), such as helmets, safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and boots as required by site safety protocols.
- Visual acuity and manual dexterity to handle technical tools, read maps and instruments, observe site conditions, and document findings accurately.
