Position Summary

Perform basic design work and calculations. Conduct field investigations, use automated systems, and prepare designs, plans, and estimates. Design activity is overseen by a licensed professional engineer or registered architect, and responsibilities are largely independent with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare plans, specifications and estimates (PS&E) using automated programs; review plans, enter data, update, store and maintain PS&E documents and files.
  • Research plan sets and review proposed construction plans, specifications, and estimates for accuracy and completeness.
  • Assist in development of traffic control plans, coordinate with law‑enforcement agencies, monitor lane closures at construction sites, document changes, and coordinate with the Public Information Officer.
  • Perform pavement evaluations and operate data collection equipment.
  • Perform detail design and quantity checks for plans, specifications, and estimate (PS&E).
  • Other job responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school graduate or equivalent in general high school studies.
  • Four years of transportation engineering support, roadway maintenance, construction inspection, or related work experience.
  • Valid driver’s license (required to drive a state vehicle).
  • Mandatory Safety Impact Certificate.
  • Knowledge of materials used in highway/bridge construction and maintenance;
    Texas Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices; maintenance concepts, policies and requirements; applicable plans, specifications and estimates preparation, review, processing and compliance requirements; basic traffic management and control procedures; applicable industry safety standards, guidelines and specification codes'adapted to plan coordination and multi‑project management; preparing and maintaining confidential and sensitive records; using computers, applications, and systems; maintaining a safe and effective working relationship with others.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditionsfisibility
  • Exposure to environmental conditions, noise and vibration; protective gear (respirator, hard hat, or other device) required.
  • Light work: lift up to 20 lbs at a time and frequently lift or carry objects up to 10 lbs.
  • Walking, standing, crouching on various surfaces without falling.
  • Speaking and hearing ability at normal speaking levels.
  • Repetitive motions of wrists, hands, and fingers.
  • Pre‑employment physical required.
  • Drug testing required for safety‑impact positions.
  • Work may be required on weekends, holidays, and outside normal 8 a.m عرض–5 p.m hours; may be required in adverse weather conditions.

Schedule

Full‑time, day shift, 40 hrs per week. May be required to work weekends, holidays and outside normal 8 a.m.–5 p.m. hours.

Salary

Annual: $48,244 – $76,028 ( නම් A19)
