Job Title: Project Engineer Reports to: Project Manager, Powders Department: Operations Location: USA Saxonburg
SummaryReporting to the Project Manager, the Project Engineer will work in collaboration with the engineering, production, and maintenance teams to support and oversee multiple projects in the manufacturing facility, including the design work, commissioning of equipment, overseeing contractor work, and budget management. This position is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing capital and operational projects while ensuring safety, quality, schedule, and cost objectives are met.
MainResponsibilities
- The main activities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Drawing review
- Complete process layout.
- Assist in sourcing, evaluating, and retrieving vendor quotations(Canvas for parts and equipment to support procurement and project requirements).
- Write justification documentation for internal approvals. (RFAs.)
- Support Large projects ($50k+) and deliver small projects ($25-$50k).
- Assist in Cap Ex Projects from initial planning and justification through installation and commissioning.
- Projects – Overlapтиз with assistance of Project Coordinator, budgeting, drafting, and collaborative spreadsheets.
- Other duties within competence as requested.
- Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
- Develop and maintain project layouts, schedules, andclips execution plans.
- Ensure projects comply with applicable safety regulations, industry standards, and company policies.
- Coordinate materials, equipment, vendors, and subcontractors to support project towing.
- Evaluate vendor quotations and support sourcing and procurement decisions.
- Monitor project budgets, track costs, and manage scope changes.
- Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies.
- Serve as a technical liaison between engineering, operations, project management, and external partners.
- Prepare and present project updates, documentation, and approvals.
- Conduct site inspections and support installation, testing, commissioning, and start-up activities.
- Troubleshoot technical issues and resolve project challenges as they arise.
- Support digitalization and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Bachelors’ Degree in Engineering, related(`${Process`, Chemical, or Industrial) required or related experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience managing projects and/or designing production processes/equipment in an industrial setting preferred.
- Knowledge of engineering principles and design.
- Familiarity with CAD software (AutoCAD, Solid Works).
- Understanding of manufacturing or process systems.
- Familiarity in project management tools (MS Project, Primavera).
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret relevant equipment manuals, drawings, technical procedures, and professional journals.
- Requires an individual who can take initiative, communicate effectively, and coordinate several projects across different departments and external groups with minimal oversight.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 apps.
- Demonstrated success utilizing continuous improvement methodologies to improve operational performance.
- Uses strong, creative critical thinking and problem‑solving skills.
- Highly analytical‑capable of designing experiments, data collection, analysis, and interpretation.
