Senior Project Surveyor / Survey Group Lead
Location: Indiana - Jeffersonville, Fort Wayne, and Chesterton
Southern Search is partnering with a well-established, multi-discipline AEC firm to identify a Senior Project Surveyor to lead and grow a surveying practice in Indiana. This is a leadership-focused opportunity for an experienced survey professional who enjoys managing clients, mentoring teams, and helping shape the direction of a growing group.

The OpportunityAs a Senior Project Surveyor, you will serve as the technical and operational leader for surveying services in the region. You’ll manage key client relationships, oversee projects from proposal through delivery, and guide a team of surveyors and technicians. Your insight into local regulations, right-of-way requirements, and market conditions will directly impact the growth and success of the group.

Key Responsibilities- Serve as the primary point of contact for survey-related projects and client coordination
- Lead and mentor survey staff and technicians, ensuring efficient and accurate data collection and processing
- Prepare scopes of work, fee proposals, and change orders as project needs evolve
- Ensure all work complies with internal QA/QC standards and applicable state and local regulations
- Provide technical guidance, training, and problem-solving support to develop staff capabilities
- Review boundary, easement, and right-of-way descriptions and associated drawings
- Perform and review parcel, lot line, and easement calculations using title and taxation data
- Conduct research of public land survey records and regulatory requirements
- Oversee or assist with field activities as needed (boundary, topo, construction layout, as-builts, profiles, and cross-sections)
- Communicate clearly and consistently with internal leadership and project stakeholders
- Associate’s degree in Surveying, Engineering, or a related technical field
- Indiana Registered Land Surveyor (RLS) license required
- 5+ years of professional surveying experience with increasing responsibility
- Strong working knowledge of surveying equipment, procedures, and field operations
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and Open Roads Designer
- Familiarity with DOT survey standards preferred
- Strong math aptitude (trigonometry and geometry)
- Proven ability to manage people, projects, and deadlines
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Valid driver’s license and ability to perform field-related physical tasks as needed
