Field Project Manager – Westinghouse Electric Company
Location: Madison, PA, US.
OverviewAs a Field Project Manager with Westinghouse Inspection Services in the Reactor and Balance of Plant inspections group, you will perform Non‑Destructive Examinations (NDE) at operating and new construction nuclear power plants. The Reactor portion focuses on reactor vessel, head and internal structures using automated/robotic delivery systems; the Balance of Plant focuses on pressurizer, steam generator girth welds, Class 1‑3 pipe welds, support, snubbers, containment metal liner and concrete, primarily using manual inspection techniques.
You will manage medium‑complexity projects or portions of highly complex projects, supervise 10‑30 team members, and may serve as Technical Inputs Lead or deputy overall project manager under a Program Manager or higher. The role reports to the Manager of Reactor & BOP Inspection Operations and is based out of the Waltz Mill facility in Madison, PA. This mobile position requires on‑site presence 2–3 days a week.
Day To Day
- Project planning – Complete all aspects of the planning process, including authoring project plans and developing scope, schedule, and cost baselines.
- Project executing, monitoring and controlling – Assume overall responsibility for contract profitability, acquire and manage team members, oversee scope, schedule, cost, risk, procurement, quality, resources, communications and stakeholders, interpret and transmit contract changes, track cost forecasts and project performance, maintain process metrics and documentation.
- Project closing – Properly close projects by archiving work in financial, scheduling, document management and resource systems, perform final quality assessment, and communicate lessons learned and risk avoidance opportunities.
- Develop positive relationships with cross‑functional teams, customers, suppliers, and Westinghouse in‑country representation, acting as the single representative to the customer, architect engineer, constructor and Westinghouse business areas.
- Seek opportunities and implement continuous improvements to enhance project performance – Identify, assess and implement improvement opportunities that add value.
- Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Engineering, Construction Management or related technical discipline, or equivalent non‑degreed technical experience in an industrial environment.
- Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree in Project Management or Engineering. - 1‑3 years of project manager experience or 3+ years in a technical role such as field service, nuclear, power plant, NDE, oil/gas, construction industry.
- Preferred: 2+ years of experience as a project manager in a technical industry.
- Familiar with the Project Management Institute’s Project Management Body of Knowledge.

- Advanced interpersonal skills: effective verbal and written communication, leading complex team structures, building relationships with senior stakeholders, making complex decisions with little supervision.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft® Office tools, project schedule, cost and risk management processes and associated tools (e.g., Primavera, SAP, Active Risk Manager).
- Advanced ability to transform data to information for visual reports; database concepts for data management; high‑quality presentation skills.
- Will be expected to complete assigned training in Westinghouse Systems, Procedures and Policies applicable to assignments.
- Preferred:
Broad technical knowledge of nuclear power plants; familiarity with utility operations, maintenance, engineering practices, procurement processes and material management. - Westinghouse Project Manager qualification in progress or eligibility to enroll; expected to complete the qualification within the designated time period.
- Preferred: PMI/PMP Certification or equivalent project management certification.
