ABOUT THE ROLE
The Safety Specialist II works closely with field staff, clients and subcontractors, all levels of management, and personnel from external organizations during all phases of electric construction projects. Safety Specialist II's will support the creation of site‑specific plans and be a mentor to other safety professionals within the company. The Specialist must be committed to ensuring adherence to safety‑related policies, procedures, and regulations while developing positive professional relationships.
This is a location‑based position encompassing worksites throughout the assigned project area and requires varying amounts of travel.

Essential Functions- Conduct accident/injury investigations including root cause analyses
- Provide support to Operations organization for incident case management and documentation steps
- Follow‑up with Operations organization to ensure completion of corrective actions for all accidents and incidents
- Complete final review incident case management and documentation
- Support company safety committees with assessment of safety performance trends, implementing process, and tool improvements
- Perform ongoing site visits to observe and document safety behaviors and work conditions to ensure a safety focus throughout all phases of electric construction projects
- Partner with Operations leadership to create site‑specific safety plans; actively participate in safety meetings to review job hazard analysis and hazard recognition tools
- Participate in project kick off and progress meetings
- Coordinate safety department meetings and action planning to provide technical expertise regarding safety and training topics
- Support client‑specific safety requirements programs and ensure alignment and compliance between client expectations, company rules, and applicable safety regulations
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to environmental protection or occupational health and safety
- Coach and mentor project site personnel regarding safety practices and behaviors on an ongoing basis
- Conduct proactive behavior‑based and quality‑focused field safety observations and PPE hazard assessments
- Coordinate with Safety, Safety Training & Operations teams to schedule or facilitate required employee trainings
- New hire orientation
- OSHA ETD Quarterly refresher training
- Customer required training
- Post‑incident training as part of a Corrective Action Plan
- Participate in site‑specific safety planning
- Provide mentoring and coaching to lower level Safety personnel
- Participate in safety department meetings and action planning to provide technical expertise regarding safety and training topics
- Regular and predictable attendance
- Other duties as assigned
- Essential functions of this position are to be performance at a Company‑designated office or field location
- Understand and comply with the Company's Code of Business Conduct and Ethics and other industry‑specific professional and ethical conduct standards
- Minimum 5 years of experience in environmental, health, and safety (EHS) field roles - required
- High school diploma or GED equivalent - required
