Job Title: Offshore Mechanic – Semi‑Submersible (Maintenance Support)Location: Romania
Rotation: 28 days on / 28 days off
Contract Duration: Approx. 3–4 months (with potential extension based on maintenance campaigns)
The Offshore Mechanic will provide hands‑on mechanical maintenance support during an intensive maintenance campaign on a semi‑submersible drilling unit. The primary focus will be on supporting planned and corrective maintenance activities, including hydraulic hose change‑outs, mechanical system servicing, and general rig equipment upkeep to ensure operational readiness and equipment reliability throughout the campaign.
Key Duties & ResponsibilitiesMechanical Maintenance & Repair
Execute planned and corrective maintenance of mechanical equipment onboard the semi‑submersible rig.
Undertake hose change‑outs across hydraulic and pneumatic systems, ensuring correct fittings, pressure ratings, and leak‑free integrity.
Service rotating machinery, pumps, valves, power units, diesel engines and auxiliary systems as required.
Assist with alignment checks, lubrication, seal and bearing replacement, belt/chain adjustments, and basic fabrication tasks.
Planned Maintenance Support
Support execution of maintenance work scopes identified for the upcoming campaign, coordinating with supervision and planning teams.
Perform maintenance tasks in line with OEM specifications, technical procedures, and work order instructions.
Maintain accurate documentation of work performed, parts used, and equipment status.
Troubleshooting & Diagnostics
Assist with fault finding on mechanical and hydraulic systems, isolating issues and facilitating timely resolution.
Communicate equipment defects, recommendations, and progress to supervisors and planners.
Safety & Compliance
Follow rigorous offshore safety standards, including Permit‑to‑Work (PTW), Lock‑Out/Tag‑Out (LOTO), and Job Hazard Analysis (JHA).
Participate in routine safety drills (fire, evacuation, emergency response) and actively contribute to a safe working environment.
Adhere to company HSE policies and offshore survival requirements.
Teamwork & Communication
Work closely with other maintenance trades (electrical/ET, rig crew, subsea support) to coordinate multi‑discipline activities.
Attend toolbox talks, briefings, and shift handovers to ensure continuity and clarity of ongoing tasks.
Mechanical background with prior offshore or industrial equipment maintenance experience; semi‑submersible rig experience strongly preferred.
Hands‑on experience with hydraulic/pneumatic systems — especially hose change‑outs, fittings, and pressure testing.
Strong mechanical aptitude with skills in troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and general equipment servicing.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and work procedures.
