The Student Media Advisor focuses on enhancing student experiences in media production spaces at Villanova University. Under the guidance of the Assistant Director for Student Media Programs and the Communication Studio Production Manager, the Student Media Advisor collaborates with faculty in the Department of Communication to enhance academic learning in media production through the expansion of Villanova University with the Cabrini Campus.
This position supports Villanova students enrolled in Communication courses as well as Villanova students involved in student media organizations. This position is also responsible for training, supporting, and supervising students engaged in media creation and managing media spaces and equipment, including media labs, television studios, radio stations, classrooms, and recording and editing bays. The Student Media Advisor provides direct advising and support for Villanova's student television station, VTV.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Media Space Coordination
* Manage all media space reservations within Bellesini Hall and serve as the primary reservation approver.
* Coordinate with Communication faculty to prepare equipment and spaces for classes such as COMM 3305:
Radio Broadcasting and COMM 3363:
Broadcast Journalism. Assist with any technical needs for these courses.
* Coordinate with Villanova Television and WXVU University Radio to manage student organization space needs.
Student Advising and Support
* Serve as the primary student organization advisor to VTV.
* Conduct one-on-one and group training sessions with students involved in media production.
* Develop a regular workshop series to train students in videography, lighting, video/audio editing, and other key production skills.
* Assist students with equipment-related issues, including providing basic troubleshooting support and repairs when necessary. Also assist in the set-up and troubleshooting of live radio broadcasts, including Villanova Athletics coverage and other on-campus event coverage.
Equipment Management
* Maintain inventory and manage the sign-out process for all media equipment.
* Develop and implement a formal checkout system in collaboration with the Department of Communication and Office of Student Involvement.
* Test, track, and maintain equipment regularly to ensure readiness and reliability.
Other
* Assist with large-scale campus programming and events, such as Family Weekend, Commencement, and the Student Involvement Fair.
* Perform other duties and assist with projects as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree
* 1-3 years of video and audio editing and production experience
* Capacity to manage multiple programs, working independently and as part of a team
