Overview
Montgomery County Community College invites applications for the Nursing Instructor/Assistant Professor – Pediatric and Maternal Health position. This is a Fall-Summer contract focused on teaching Nursing with a specialty in Pediatric and Maternal/Child Health, with the ability to teach Fundamentals and basic Medical/Surgical Nursing. Faculty participate in course and curriculum development, program and course assessment, student advisement, college service and professional development.
Essentialknowledge and skills
- Master’s degree, or its equivalent, in an appropriate discipline from an accredited institution is required. Doctorate or terminal professional degree is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduates of all abilities. Community College teaching experience is preferred.
- Evidence of continued professional growth and development.
- Commitment to innovative instructional techniques and technologies and use of course management systems.
- Commitment to using a variety of teaching activities to address diverse learning styles.
- Commitment to incorporating information literacy resources, technology, research, writing, and culturally diverse perspectives into the curriculum.
- Knowledge of competency-based education is preferred.
- Commitment to continual assessment of the teaching-learning process.
- Commitment to work with diverse populations, including under-resourced groups and first-generation students.
- Understanding of and commitment to a comprehensive community college philosophy.
- Master’s degree in nursing from an accredited institution is required. Doctorate is preferred. Specialty certifications and/or CNE are preferred.
- Current, non-encumbered licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in the state of Pennsylvania.
- Clinical expertise in nursing with a focus on Pediatrics and Maternal/Child Health is required; experience in Basic Medical/Surgical nursing and the ability to teach Fundamentals of Nursing is preferred.
