Position Summary & Description

The Office of Intercollegiate Athletics at Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) invites applicants for a Head Women's Field Hockey Coach to direct, organize and administer all aspects of the IUP Women's Field Hockey program at the Division II level, and to create a quality student‑athlete experience in academics, athletics and community service.

IUP Athletics is a premier Division II athletics program, competing as a member of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC).

Duties

Ensure compliance with rules and regulations of IUP, the PSAC, and the NCAA. Formulate team policies and procedures. Monitor and encourage academic progress and success of student athletes to ensure continuing eligibility to participate in NCAA competition and to graduate. Exercise fiscal responsibility on all budgetary matters and expense items. Coordinate game preparation (e.g. player conditioning, training, skill building, developing plays, game strategies, scouting other teams, and on‑field coaching).

Direct player recruitment by maintaining contact with high school coaches to identify potential prospects, recommending schools to be visited, developing a recruiting schedule and recommending students for recruitment and scholarships. Coordinate and participate in fund‑raising activities in support of IUP’s athletic program. Schedule contests and team practice sessions. Facilitate and operate field‑hockey camps and clinics. Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Athletics.

Position Qualifications

Required:

Bachelors degree. Three years collegiate coaching experience.

Candidates must have the communication skills and cross‑cultural abilities to maximize their effectiveness with diverse groups of students, colleagues, and community members.

Candidates must communicate effectively and perform well in the interview(s).
