Location: Crackersport
Overview
Purpose:
Assist the Dean of Student Affairs by managing behavior, attendance and social emotional development for students in grades K3. Focus on early childhood behavior interventions, parent communication and developmentally appropriate discipline.
- Behavior Support:
Oversee classroom and recess behavior for primary students; implement positive behavior strategies and social emotional learning programs; respond to referrals from teachers; investigate incidents; assign consequences consistent with school policy. - Attendance and Truancy:
Monitor attendance for K3 students; communicate with families about absences; collaborate with teachers to support regular attendance. - Family Partnerships:
Develop strong relationships with parents/guardians; communicate regularly regarding student behavior and attendance; provide resources for behavior at home and coordinate parent meetings. - Early Childhood Social-Emotional Learning:
Collaborate with counselors and psychologists to implement programs that teach self regulation, empathy and conflict resolution appropriate for young children. - Coordination and Supervision:
Work closely with the Dean and other assistant deans to ensure consistent expectations across grade bands; supervise recess duty, and hallway transitions.
- Bachelor's degree in education, child development or related field.
- Master's degree or certification in educational leadership preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of experience working with early elementary students; experience with positive behavior supports and trauma informed practices is strongly recommended.
- Strong communication and family engagement skills; ability to work with diverse families.
- Ability to remain calm and patient when working with young children and to model respectful behavior.
