Position: Paraprofessional – Autistic Support with Security Clearance

Paraprofessional - Autistic Support Classroom Position Summary Our client is seeking a Paraprofessional to support students in the Autistic Support (AS) classroom. This role assists students with communication, behavior regulation, social skills, sensory needs, and structured academic instruction. The paraprofessional collaborates closely with the classroom teacher and autism support team to maintain a consistent, supportive, and structured learning environment. Responsibilities
Instructional Support
* Implement autism‑specific instructional methods such as discrete trial training and task analysis.

* Assist with visual supports including picture schedules, token systems, and first-then boards.

* Support academic activities during centers, social skills groups, and structured teaching tasks.

Communication Support
* Model and prompt communication systems (AAC, PECS, sign language, visual supports).

* Reinforce expressive and receptive language goals aligned with student IEPs.

* Collaborate with speech‑language pathologists to carry out communication strategies.

Behavioral & Sensory Support
* Follow individualized behavior intervention plans consistently and safely.

* Use sensory strategies such as movement breaks, sensory tools, and calming routines.

* Support students during dysregulation using proactive and district‑approved crisis intervention protocols.

Routine & Transition Support
* Guide students through daily routines using clear verbal and visual prompts.

* Assist with transitions between activities, specials, lunch, and recess.

* Support functional independence goals such as organization and self‑monitoring.

General Responsibilities
* Collaborate with teachers, BCBAs, therapists, and administrators.

* Collect and maintain accurate data on academic and behavioral progress.

* Maintain professionalism and confidentiality in accordance with district policies.

* Support classroom management and contribute to a positive learning environment.

* Attend IEP meetings when requested.

* Perform additional duties as needed to support safe and effective classroom operations. Qualifications
* High school diploma required.

* Experience with elementary students preferred.

* Experience with autism or behavioral needs strongly preferred.

* Strong communication and rapport‑building skills.

* Ability to follow teacher direction and use computer systems.

* Reliable transportation (car required). Required Clearances (Prior to Start)
