Program OverviewMellott University is a hands‑on, career exploration and training program designed for motivated high school students interested in careers in Manufacturing and Service Technician roles. Students are selected through an interview process before their senior year and, if accepted, will spend half of each school day during their senior year learning at the Warfordsburg Pa campus.
This program blends classroom instruction and on‑the‑job experience to help students build practical skills, explore career paths, and prepare for full‑time employment or continued technical education after graduation.
Participants will be exposed to careers such as:- Mechanical or Electrical Technician
- Field Service Technician
- Skilled Trades and Industrial Careers
- Hands‑on experience with tools, equipment, and technology used in modern manufacturing and service environments
- Basic mechanical, electrical, and troubleshooting skills
- An understanding of safety practices and workplace standards
- Exposure to equipment maintenance, repair, and diagnostics
- Professional skills such as teamwork, communication, time management, and problem‑solving
- Insight into career opportunities within manufacturing and service industries
Duration: Senior year of high school
Time Commitment: 1pm-4:30pm
Location: Mellott facilities and training spaces
Structure: Combination of classroom learning, lab activities, and hands‑on experience
Basic Qualifications- Currently a high school junior (at time of interview)
- current a high school junior in a trades program at their high school
- Eligible to participate in a half‑day senior‑year program through their school
- Able to follow safety rules and workplace expectations
- Willing to participate in an interview and selection process
