School Psychologist

Reports To:

Director of Student Services

Summary:

Works collaboratively in a professional learning community with teachers, support staff, and others as appropriate to support the success of students academically, socially, behaviorally, and emotionally.

Job Responsibilities
  • Perform comprehensive evaluations and reevaluations using psychometric assessments
  • Facilitate and participate in Manifestation Determination meetings
  • Identify and help provide solutions for student needs in order to maximize student achievement
  • Provide counseling and instructional support for students managing emotional, behavioral, or social challenges
  • Help promote campus-wide initiatives that support overall wellness through the implementation of strong communication skills, problem-solving, anger management, self-regulation, etc.
  • Consult with other district personnel (Principals, Social Workers, Learning Disabilities Consultants, Counselors, Teachers, etc.) regarding students’ behaviors and needs
  • Assist classroom teachers and principals in identifying needs through observation, assessment, and development of Individualized Education Program (IEP)
  • Consult with teachers to provide behavioral interventions, functional behavior assessments, and create behavioral intervention plans
  • Review all student records and skill areas, conferring with classroom teachers and observing students in the classroom setting as per mandate
  • Participate in the development of the evaluation plan with IEP meetings as needed
  • Consult with parents concerning counseling/behavioral needs, pre-referral intervention, special class placement, referral to outside agencies for students
  • Consult with school personnel and parents on student needs when requested or appropriate to assist in development of classroom intervention and follow-up in the home
  • Maintain all records for students on the case management list in order and ensure they are completed within the mandated time frame, reviewing and updating regularly
  • Perform all duties as assigned by the Student Services Director in accordance with standards of professional practice, school policies and procedures, and state law regarding psychology practice
  • Enforces the CCS Student Code of Conduct, the CCS Uniform Code, and the CCS Computer Usage Code
  • Promotes good citizenship through actions as a role model
  • Conducts oneself according to professional, ethical principles that reflect favorably upon the individual and the school
  • Maintains the highest level of confidentiality pertaining to school and students’ information, progress, and records
  • Assumes other responsibilities assigned by supervisor and/or school administrator
  • Abides by the CCS Employee Manual, CCS policies and procedures, and all current PA Public School expectations
Qualifications
  • A Master’s degree and PA School Psychologist (PK-12) Certification. If certification is from a different state, PA certification must be obtained within a determined timeframe.
  • Ability to set priorities and adapt to change
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to solve practical problems, take initiative, and deal with a variety of variables
  • Knowledge of basic computer operations
  • Required Clearances include Criminal Background Clearance (Act 34), Child Abuse Clearance (Act 151), and FBI Fingerprint Clearance (Act 114), all dated within one year of receipt
  • Meets criteria for employment in a PA Public School

  • Position may require physical intervention with students who present an imminent risk to themselves or others, in accordance with established safety care training guidelines
