THE POSITION
Are you highly organized, detail‑oriented, and motivated by work that supports the conservation of Pennsylvania's natural resources? If so, the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) is seeking a dedicated Administrative Assistant 1 to join the Ryerson Station State Park team. This role is far more than routine administrative support—you will be a key partner in ensuring park operations are efficient, compliant, and financially sound.
From budgeting and procurement to HR and general operations, your work will directly support the mission of conserving and sustaining Pennsylvania's natural resources for generations to come. If you are ready to build your DCNR career in a role that makes a meaningful impact, we invite you to apply!
As an Administrative Assistant 1, you will support Ryerson Station State Park by overseeing a broad portfolio of administrative, fiscal, procurement, and human resource functions essential to daily operations. The park consists of 1,164 acres and offers fishing, pavilion rentals, camping, swimming, picnicking, hiking, hunting, cross‑country skiing, and other winter activities.
Your duties will include timekeeping, purchasing, accounting, visitor services, reservations, volunteers, and other routine office functions essential for daily operations. You will be responsible for coordinating all credit card purchases, serving as a liaison between vendors, contractors, and park administration, and completing needs‑based purchases for the facility. Accounting assignments will entail maintaining ledgers of park expenditures, regulating expenditures according to allocated budget figures, and assisting with tracking budget expenditures to best prepare the budget and re‑budget each fiscal year.
In addition, you will assist with the onboarding process by scheduling interviews and processing all paperwork for hiring. You will conduct all aspects of the payroll process and maintain all employee personnel files. This position plays a key role in keeping administrative systems organized, compliant, and responsive to the operational needs of the park.
