2nd Shift Book Binding Machine Operator

DIY Media Group has an immediate opening for a Book Binding Machine Operator in the Book Baby Print Shop at our Pennsauken, NJ facility. Job type:
Full-time, 40 hours/week; 2nd Shift, Monday through Friday, 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM. Occasional overtime as business requires.

• Follow all safety procedures at all times, including lock-out tag-out when cleaning or maintaining equipment.
• Follow standard work; retrieve and load materials; prepare jobs for converting.
• Operate production equipment for processes including printing, laminating, cutting, end sheet fabrication, perfect binding, case making, casing binding, and related equipment.
• Communicate process changes and equipment failures in writing or verbally.
• Monitor product quality and report variations to the manager.
• Participate in Lean and Continuous Improvement initiatives.
• Work in a manner aligned with DIY’s values.

• High School Diploma or GED.
• At least 1 year of machine operation experience.
• Prior book manufacturing equipment experience (e.g., print binding or finishing) is preferred.

• Language:
  Must be able to take direction and communicate in Basic English and read/write basic documents.
• Math:
  Basic arithmetic, fractions, decimals; knowledge of standard/imperial measuring systems required; metric system knowledge is a plus.
• Understanding and use of basic measuring instruments (micrometers, digital calipers, tape measure).
• Reasonable organizational skills and mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to earn pallet jack certification with training provided by DIY.

This position requires standing/walking for the full 8+ hour shift. The work involves extended periods of repetitive motion, walking, standing, bending, reaching, lifting, and carrying up to 50 lbs.
