Position
Receptionist – Rate: $15.92 to $17 per hour. POSITION SUMMARY
The Receptionist is responsible for operation of the switchboard and paging system. He/she answers all incoming calls, redirecting them as needed. The Receptionist greets visitors and gives directions to residents, visitors and supports clerical activities.
RESPONSIBILITIES/
ACCOUNTABILITIES Prepares timecards and distributes them to appropriate departmentsCollates medical chartsOrders supplies in accordance with procedures and budget allocationsCompiles reports and types general or technical materialMaintains current list of residents by name and room number, list of telephone numbers for all personnel, list of department extensions, names of key personnel and their extension numbers, physician kardex, and mail cardsCoordinates outgoing and incoming mail to facilityEnsures that residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere which recognizes the individuals’ needs and rightsPerforms other duties as requestedSPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL/ VOCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
High school degree or equivalent with college/business school coursework preferredExperience With Medical Terminology Is PreferredMust be able to read, write and understand the English languageJOB SKILLS
Strong organizational skillsAbility to handle a variety of assignments, some of moderate complexity, requiring considerable familiarity with the operating details of the facilityAbility to interpret and apply departmental proceduresPresent a well-groomed, professional image and be courteous and tactful at all timesAbility to operate a typewriter and/or computerShow discretion in handling of confidential informationHave a pleasant and professional phone mannerAbility to positively interact with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general publicHave well-developed verbal and written communication skillsAbility to work independently, problem solve and make decisions as necessaryProvide annual verification of negative TB skin testPERFORMS RELATED DUTIES
