High School, Special Education Teacher
The Pennington School seeks a Teacher of Latin to serve as a temporary leave replacement to teach classes in Grades 8-12 from August 13 to December 20, 2026.
Essential Duties:- Teach four sections of Latin:
Latin I-IV - Work to elicit individual excellence in every student, moving the student toward personal and collective goals in skills, habits of mind, and understanding
- Embrace student-centered teaching practices and backward design in curriculum planning
- Favor a linguistic communicative approach where permanent interactions promote higher proficiency levels of students
- Demonstrate warmth, collegiality, humor, and industry in interactions with students, colleagues, and parents
- Demonstrate professionalism and commitment to working in and fostering the Pennington School community
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Classical Studies or related subject area; master's degree preferred
- Minimum of two years' experience teaching and proven ability to teach all levels of classical languages to high school students; independent school experience preferred
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in the classic languages as well as English; full command of Latin
- Experience with various cultures from work or study abroad, and commitment to making culture a fundamental part of one's teaching practice
- Experience integrating technology into the curriculum
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Enthusiasm for working with students in and out of the classroom
- Desire to be a member of a community that embraces diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Interest in a boarding school environment
- Ability to work with a variety of learning styles
- A positive attitude, a growth mindset, and a sense of humor
- Additional responsibilities for this position may include leading a club, or coaching a team.
- Attendance at School events that may include occasional weekends and evenings is also required.

The minimum monthly salary for this position is $4,000. The actual offer may be higher, commensurate with skills and experience.
