Teacher of Engineering and Business, School Year
The Wardlaw+Hartridge School, located in Edison, New Jersey, seeks a knowledgeable and engaging educator to teach Engineering and Business courses at the high school level. This newly-created position introduces students to foundational concepts in engineering design, problem-solving, and business principles while helping them develop critical thinking, collaboration, and real-world application skills. The ideal candidate will inspire curiosity, creativity, and practical understanding of how engineering and business intersect in modern industries.
The possibility to serve as Director of Entrepreneurship and Technology exists for a qualified candidate.
- Design and deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction in introductory engineering and business courses
- Teach foundational engineering concepts such as the design process, systems thinking, modeling, and problem-solving
- Introduce business fundamentals, including entrepreneurship, marketing, finance, operations, and management
- Integrate hands-on, project-based learning, design challenges, and real-world case studies
- Guide students through collaborative projects that connect technical solutions with business considerations
- Assess student learning using a variety of formative and summative methods
- Foster a classroom environment that encourages inquiry, creativity, teamwork, and persistence
- Support students in developing presentations, prototypes, and written analyses
- Collaborate with colleagues to support interdisciplinary learning and curriculum development
- Participate in professional development and contribute to program growth as needed
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field (Master’s degree preferred)
- Experience teaching or working in engineering
- Strong communication, organizational, and classroom management skills
- Commitment to supporting diverse learners and preparing students for college and career pathways
- Experience with project-based, design-based, or experiential learning
- Familiarity with engineering tools, technology, or introductory CAD, coding, or data analysis
- Knowledge of financial literacy and entrepreneurship concepts
- Ability to integrate current industry trends and technology into instruction
- Enthusiasm for innovation and interdisciplinary teaching
This position helps prepare students for future studies and careers in engineering, business, and related fields by building strong technical foundations, practical skills, and confidence in problem-solving and collaboration.
Salary Range: 75-95k
